My Winter Ibiza

Montse Monsalve is the CEO at Imam Comunicación in Ibiza and one of the people who better knows the best kept secrets of the island.  Thanks to her job at the prestigious press and events agency she is the perfect hostess, thanks to her deep knowledge of Ibiza’s best kept secrets. Today from the hand of Montse we discover all the magic of the island in winter.

We start with a walk on Talamanca. “Living in an island is such a privilege and wintertime is the perfect time to enjoy the beauty and the quiteness. Everyday I walk along the beach of Talamanca to the Botafoch lighthouse with my dog RAE. I breathe the magic, energy and positivism of the sunset there. I like to have breakfast at the Hostal Talamanca with my friends and go to Trattoria del Sol for lunch or dinner. They always remember my name and they remain open 365 days a year. I enjoy these routines. Eating late and watching sunset from Sa Calma is another of my fave winter activities.

The gourmet address of Montse is Sa Brisa, “a gastro bar where things happen, you travel with their dishes, it’s that kind of food that makes you vibrate”. It’s open all year round “and has become my favorite because above they turn the food into art and they put lots of love in every thing they do” Another place that recommends us is Ca n’Alfredo, a tradicional restaurant famous for their good good rices. For fresh fish, she recommends Amadeo. Rascalobos is the best place for a great Burgos sausage. “I think it’s very important to go to places where they remember your name and that you like to drink coffee with no sugar. It makes me feel good”.

Montse is not a sporty girl, but she gets fit at the Pilates Ibiza center. She also enjoys the flamenco lessons by Marga Molina.  Sometimes she plays paddle at Sport Center and Club de Campo, or goes skating on the Paseo Marítimo

She likes to go shopping at Las Dalias hippie market, stroll around the Sunday market in Sant Joan or find great bargains at Hipodromo flea market. “I also love to get lost in Dalt Vila in winter, walk though its lonely streets, find open shops at La Marina…just feel the vibes of a city that stays awake and fresh. At least once a month I visit the gallery P | ART IBIZA where they always surprise me with their collective art exhibitions or with activities such us wine tasting marinated with paintings and sculptures “.

In conclusion, this is how Montse defines the winter in Ibiza: “The island is finally only our island. Wintertime is like the end of the show,  when the actor leaves the stage. In summer sometimes it seems that everybody is envolved in a film production, and it is now when we feel that everything is real and ours”.
