The Majorcan fashion designer Cristina Martinez Reus won yesterday the Young Designers of Balears Contest with her collection “The Garden of Eternity”. She presented on the catwalk at the Palacio de Congresos de Santa Eulalia a collection full of flowers and inspired by the style and nature of the Alhambra in Granada and the Moorish architecture (featured image).
The winner, with the counselor of Industry and Fashion, Vicent Roig, the president, Vicent Sera, and the models.

Six designers presented their collections on the catwalk. First of them was Alejandra Lopez, featuring “Sweet Summer” a collection inspired by Menorca: embroidered fabrics from the XIX century. “It is a sophisticated and elegant collection designed for a nostalgic woman who likes to feel like those actresses who used to spent summer time by the sea, such as Grace Kelly or Elizabeth Taylor”, she says.

The Majorcan Coralia López Vives introduced “Corvus Corax” inspired by the crows, both in form and colors. Spring-summer clothing in dark colors. Mainly, dresses and corsets, with simple but bold prints.

The singer Carmen Miranda inspired the collection by Iris Torres (Mallorca). “Carminda Collection” means big garments, ruffles and off white color for an exotic & caribbean touch.

Deva Allen, from Ibiza, introduced “Devasuki Fashion”, a very sexy collection, with oversize tops and dresses. We saw colors inspired by nature -such as stone, sand- but also vibrant tones.

Raquel Espada, also from Ibiza, shocked with her collection “Back to war”, inspired by the military look of summer 1945, when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed. Army green dresses, oriental prints and black leather representing the human frailty.
