The art of knitwear

Talk about artist and designer Gisela G. is talk about the evolution of fashion and Ibiza in the last decades. Creative, vital, traveler – she lived in New York, India, Africa, France, the German-born designer landed on the island in the 80’s. She worked for the famous nightclub Ku (now Privilege), creating the costume that was used for shows and performances of the club.Today great designers as Paul Smith are fans of his creations, made by hand, making each piece unique.

Gisela G. is an artist who works in different materials and textures, both in the development of clothes as in his paintings. In the collection presented  this summer we find delicate organza and silk dresses and a selection of pieces of bamboo. Also ‘meditation clothes’ , a collection of white clothes for yoga and meditation. “My creations are always inspired by nature and only use organic materials,” explains the designer, who finds in Ibiza a constant source of inspiration. We can see that in the use of natural colors: stone, water, soil, sand … but we also found riskier models in fluorescent tones. A must: its monochrome swimwear, you can also use them as top. You will look great with it!

To discover Gisela G.  collection you must make an appointment in her home-atelier in Sant Joan. Getting there it is a great experience. Decor is eclectic and fascinating, with dummies mirrors, a wool sofa, a chair by Philippe Starck, a huge red candlestick, paintings by the artist in every room … a delight to visit. And a pleasure to meet a woman who sums up her philosophy of life: “It is worth getting up every day to learn new things, enjoy and suffer, traveling, learning, risk … in short, to live.”
